key issues
- Flexible and Inclusive Programs: Promote comprehensive school choice and personalized learning pathways within the Ashland School District, expanding diverse educational options while ensuring all students—including those requiring specialized support—receive the resources they need to thrive, reinforcing public school excellence and student success.
- 21st-Century Curriculum: Provide diverse and accessible STEM and STEM-adjacent opportunities, including digital media, coding, computer-aided design, and career and technical education (CTE), preparing students for high-demand careers of tomorrow, regardless of whether they pursue traditional STEM fields.
- Enhanced Pedagogy: Encourage systemic adoption of proven, innovative educational strategies, such as curriculum compacting and project-based learning, to elevate student engagement, success, and academic rigor across the district.
- Leverage Community Partnerships: Expand real-world learning through mentorships (adults coming into schools) and internships (students participating in the community), capitalizing on local expertise and community strengths to complement the work of our professional educators.
- Connect & Collaborate: Build strategic alliances with businesses, nonprofits, higher education institutions, community members, and families to enrich student experiences through structured opportunities for engagement as valued partners—not just observers—in education.
- Shared Success: Foster open dialogue and transparent decision-making processes that incorporate community feedback, create solutions that reflect shared community priorities, and encourage collective ownership and pride in our schools.
- Attract and Retain Families: Promote district innovation and school choice to attract and retain families, creating schools that inspire current and future Ashland residents to actively choose our district for its responsiveness, flexibility, and excellence in education.
- Sustainable Solutions: Collaborate creatively with educators, families, and community partners to maximize efficiency, do more with less, and ensure long-term financial health.
- Protect Essential Programs: Strongly support extracurricular programs, advocating against the sale of district land vital for student activities and ensuring all students have free and equitable access to extracurricular opportunities without stigma or financial barriers.
- Teacher Support: Support continuous professional learning and resource allocation to empower teachers in addressing diverse student needs.
- Advocacy: Advocate at local, state, and national levels for funding and support for Ashland schools, benefiting every student and family in our community.
